Telemedicine makes a stop: doctor visits in the supermarket in Mosbach!

In Mosbach, in the Neckar-Odenwald district, health care will now be increased in a fresh way. Under the motto “Visit a doctor in the supermarket”, the first doctor's practice opens in a Kaufland region, where patients can conveniently receive advice from a general practitioner via video consultation. This innovative concept aims to improve medical care in rural regions and is the result of a cooperation between the Schwarz Group and Sana Clinics, which already operates almost 50 clinics in Germany. The first telemedicine practice, which functions as a branch of a medical care center (MVZ) in Neckarsulm, opens up new access to healthcare for people in the area.

The new “Medical Room” is open to patients on weekdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. A special feature is that patients are cared for during their visit by medical assistants who establish video contact with the doctor. Smaller check-ups are offered for self-payers, although both legally and privately insured people can receive advice. You can register easily using your health card and then you go to a soundproof room for a medical consultation.

Innovative approaches to healthcare

The opening in Mosbach is not only a step forward in medical care, but also represents a trend that is becoming increasingly important nationwide. Telemedicine solutions are increasingly seen as complementary to traditional doctor visits. The ability to receive medical advice from the comfort of a supermarket could become a model for other rural regions where medical services are often few and far between.

The offer in Mosbach not only attempts to make medical services more accessible to the population, but also to establish a modern, patient-friendly concept that, in the best case, has a positive impact on healthcare in the region. The public's response to this remains to be seen, but the interest in such innovative approaches is evident.
