The way to this new leisure offer was anything but straightforward. The idea was initiated for the first time in 2019 by the Sindelfingen youth council, who campaigned for the creation of a parkour system. After a fundamental decision in the municipal council 2022 and the construction decision in 2024, a total of five participation workshops took place between May 2022 and November 2024. Numerous young people were included in the planning process in order to take their needs and expectations into account.

The expansion of the skate area should not only offer sporting challenges, but also create space for social encounters. With this approach, the city pursues the goal of increasing the attractiveness for children and adolescents, which is pursued similarly in many other cities.
