Hot on reading: Pforzheim starts big campaign for young readers!
In the Pforzheim city library, it is bubbling! From July 15th to September 23, 2023, children can let their reading run run free as part of the “Hot on Read” program. The premiere of this exciting campaign took place on July 14, 2023 when Sylvia M. Felder, the government president of the Karlsruhe regional council, ceremoniously opened the program. The aim of the initiative is to make library visits more exciting as never before and to promote the understanding of reading and text among the young readers.
Participation is free of charge for all children from the first class, whereby you can choose from a variety of genres - from adventure to creep to creep to romance. There is not only the opportunity to immerse yourself in the fantastic worlds of the books, but also to win great prizes. From the third book read, the children receive a certificate and a profit for the closing ceremony on September 26, 2023. Registration for the campaign is possible at short notice in the children's library and a logbook in which the books read is also included.
An important contribution to the promotion of reading
"Hot on reading" has been coordinated by the specialist office for the public library system at the Karlsruhe regional council for 15 years now. This long tradition testifies to the importance of reading promotion in our society. According to the Library Association , libraries play a central role in this regard by not only providing printed books but also e-media and actively supporting the reading learning process.
The offers of the libraries are diverse: in addition to traditional events such as author readings and media boxes, modern formats are offered, which are also attractive for younger target groups. The goal is always to awaken the joy of reading and to promote life-accompanying learning, as the regional presidium
Farewell to an important personality
Unfortunately, the library community also has a painful loss. Annegret Artmann, who contributed to this with her fun and enthusiasm for the "Hot on Reading" program, died on July 7, 2025, a few days after her 60th birthday. Her work as a graduate librarian and specialist advisor for the rural districts of Rhein-Neckar and Neckar-Odenwald leaves a noticeable gap. At the specialist office and in public libraries, their commitment and helpfulness are painfully missed.
The values for which Annegret Artmann stood, but continue to live. Your use will serve as inspiration in order to continue to strengthen the importance of reading promotion in the future. The ongoing campaign "Hot on Reading" is a living testimony to the positive effects that libraries can have on the reading of the reading of children.
With a colorful program and a variety of books, the Pforzheim city library is waiting to be conquered by small bookworms. Register your child and give him the chance to become part of this exciting reading campaign!
