SV Markelfingen celebrates 100 years with a fantastic anniversary show!
Last weekend the time had come: SV Markelfingen, the largest club in town with around 600 members, proudly celebrated its 100th anniversary. The festivities took place in the Markolfhalle, which was festively decorated. Michael Jentsch, the association's board member, opened the anniversary evening and honored not only the many helpers who made the festival weekend possible, but also the numerous members who have shaped the association over the years. There was great rejoicing when over 900 guests came together the evening before for an anniversary party with the hit band Papis Pumpels.
A highlight of the celebration was the performance of the children's dance group under the direction of Gabriela Lehmann. The club's sporting career was also recognized. Contemporary witnesses reported on the beginnings of football in the town and the development of the various departments that make up the club today: football, tennis and leisure activities for all age groups. The focus was particularly on SV Markelfingen's youth football team, who are currently enjoying great success.
Commitment and awards
Mayor Lorenz Thum and Mayor Simon Gröger did not miss the opportunity to praise the association's commitment, especially the important role of youth work. The evening, which was enriched by the musical accompaniment of the “Tschägädies” group, impressively demonstrated the voluntary commitment of the members. Moderator Frieder Demmer announced a program with over 50 actors between the ages of six and 86, which demonstrated the club's diversity and sense of community.
As part of the celebrations, the club members also received honors from various sports associations. Among other things, the letter of honor from the South Baden Football Association and the honorary plate from the Baden Sports Association were awarded. Axel Tabertshofer from IG Sport Radolfzell presented the newly founded volleyball team with a special gift - a volleyball.
A look into the future
With the return of Tim Dölling as youth leader, who previously worked at BSV Nordstern Radolfzell, an exciting new phase is imminent for SV Markelfingen's youth work. Dölling, who spent his footballing youth at the club, would like to integrate young players into the first team and further develop youth work. He brings valuable experience with him, including the promotion of his U15 to the district league during his time at BSV.
Dölling describes his connection to SV Markelfingen as deeply rooted and sees the 100th anniversary as the perfect opportunity to give youth work new impetus. He emphasizes the importance of cohesion in the club and wants to develop players not only athletically, but also personally. “There’s something there – together we can achieve great things!” says Dölling.
SV Markelfingen is optimistic about the next hundred years. With a strong foundation of tradition, commitment and a clear vision for the future, the club community is ready to face the challenges of the times and live the joy of sport for all generations. SV Markelfingen is and remains a heart of the community, where sport and community are very important.
