Annual trip to Radolfzell: Experience Lake Constance and the Rhine Falls!

A good day for shared experiences is coming! On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, the Onstmettingen local branch of the VdK social association invites you to an exciting annual trip to Radolfzell, the Mettnau peninsula and the impressive Rhine Falls. This excursion is aimed not only at members, but also at friends, sponsors and anyone who wants to go on a nice trip.

The departure is scheduled for 8 a.m. from the Onstmettinger Riedschule. Physical well-being is also taken care of: in the Hotel “K99” in Radolfzell, participants can look forward to a delicious breakfast buffet on the 8th floor with a breathtaking view over the city and Lake Constance. After breakfast, we continue to the Mettnau Peninsula, where guests have the opportunity to visit the Mettnau Tower, enjoy walks and experience the nature around Lake Constance.

A natural spectacle of a special kind

The Mettnau peninsula, which lies east of Radolfzell in the Konstanz district, measures an impressive 3.5 km in length and up to 800 m in width. Most of the peninsula is designated as a nature reserve, which was one of the first in Germany to be protected in 1926. The 140 hectares not only contain a variety of plants, but also an important breeding ground for waterfowl. From April to August, the tip of the peninsula remains closed to visitors so that animals can thrive here undisturbed.

After exploring the peninsula, the journey takes participants to the impressive Rhine Falls in Neuhausen, Switzerland. Here you have the opportunity to experience a 30-minute boat trip called “Enjoyment of the Rhenish Amazon”. On this tour you get very close to the roaring water masses before having free time to explore the Rhine Falls promenade.

Culinary conclusion and important information

The day ends with a dinner together in the “Scharf Eck” restaurant in Fridingen an der Donau, where the participants can reflect on their exciting day. The trip price is 89 euros per person, which covers everything from the modern bus ride to the breakfast buffet to the boat trip to the Rhine Falls.
