Konstanz is planning a future-oriented residential district: Find out now!

Starting next Monday, November 20, 2025, the citizens of Konstanz will be able to take a closer look at the plans for the new “Jungerhalde-West” residential area. The city is making the development plan available for inspection in the Allmannsdorf district, just a stone's throw from the ferry port. This measure comes at the right time, because there is great pressure on the housing market in Konstanz - rents are high and the need for new living space is becoming increasingly urgent. The city is planning several new construction projects, including the Grenzbach area and the Döbele parking lot, to meet this challenge.

What is special about the planning for “Jungerhalde-West” is the focus on sustainability and affordability. Around 130 apartments are to be built using wood, which is both environmentally friendly and keeps construction costs within an acceptable range. In addition to the residential buildings, green spaces and a central high-rise car park are also planned. These concepts are intended to reduce traffic in the area and help ensure that the new district offers an attractive living environment.

Public viewing and information event

Viewing the plans is possible until December 19th. The city will also hold an information event on November 24th where interested citizens can find out more about the project. There is great interest in the plans, which shows that there is not only movement in housing policy here in the region, but that people also want to actively participate in the development of their city.

It will be exciting to see how the project continues. As part of these efforts, a new district called “Hafner” will also be created, which will accommodate up to 7,000 people. The first properties in this new district are planned for 2026, which represents a further step for the city towards easing the tight housing market.

As the developments in Konstanz show, the city is serious when it comes to finding solutions for housing. With a clear focus on sustainable construction methods and the creation of relaxing green spaces, Konstanz has the right instinct to meet the needs of a growing population. Anyone who would like to view the plans will have the opportunity to find out more in the coming weeks and perhaps even take an active part in the discussion about the development of the new residential area.
