Beer bottle attack in Ulm: The police have to arrest aggressive duo!
In the night of July 15, 2025, a violent incident occurred in the main street of Ulm, which makes the local community list. A 41-year-old attacked two people with a broken beer bottle. The victims, a 21-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries. According to [BILD] (https://www.bild.de/regional/baden-wuerttemberg/ulm-Bierpreis-bierflasch- und-Hunstand- against-Polizei-6876548C5198AB3AFA873646) the perpetrator was immediately arrested by the police.
While the police arrived, not only the victims, but also the attacker, suffered. The 41-year-old had to be taken to the hospital on the hand due to a cut injury, while the 21-year-old could be released after a treatment on site. The 38-year-old was also aggressive and was taken into custody. Their behavior caused them to attack two police officers, one of the officers being slightly injured - he was bitten into the leg.
background of violent crime
The reasons for the argument between the participants are still unclear. Such violent incidents have increased in recent years. According to [Statista] (https://de.statista.com/themen/11062/kriminalitaet-in-deutschland-chwaltkriminalitaet/), violent crimes make up less than 4% of all police crimes in Germany, but they have a strong influence on the feeling of security of the population. The increase in violent offenses in public space is particularly striking, which is also reflected in the current police crime statistics (PKS).
In the first half of 2023, an increase in violent crime was determined by around 17% compared to the previous year, with a focus on public places and streets. The reasons for this trend include increased mobility after the Corona restrictions and the economic and social stress caused by inflation. Immigration also plays a role, as the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).
The feeling of security of the citizens
These developments mean that violence crimes, although they are relatively rare, have a significant impact on people's feeling of security. Around 217,000 violent crimes were registered in 2024, the highest number since 2007. The number of annual violence victims is also around 260,000, since one act can affect several people. The increase in acts of violence against emergency services, which achieved extremely high figures in 2023, is also worrying. A survey showed that 94% of German violence and aggression against people from politics, police and rescue services perceive as a major problem.
The police investigation in Geislingen has already started. The 41-year-old has to answer for dangerous bodily harm. The 38-year-old is also held accountable because she attacked two police officers during the argument. This illustrates the complex challenges that the security forces are facing today.
