On Wednesday evening everything was suddenly different: A 16-year-old motorcyclist collided with a deer on the K7597 between Oberessendorf and Winterstettendorf around 7:45 p.m. As tixio.de and city-news.de report, the animal suddenly crossed the street, which resulted in a serious fall led. The young driver sustained serious injuries and had to be taken to a nearby clinic by rescue helicopter.
The accident damage left the motorcycle with a sum of around 8,000 euros. The traffic police have already started investigations into the circumstances of the accident, which are continuing on an ongoing basis. “We are trying to clarify all the details,” said a police spokesman.
Wildlife accidents – a constant danger
Accidents involving wild animals are not isolated cases. They account for a significant proportion of traffic accidents - around 1% of all accidents, as motorradonline.de states. Before any collision, it would be advisable to reduce speed and keep the motorcycle under control. Clear space on the side of the road can help prevent accidents if an animal suddenly appears.
