New fire station in Stetten: groundbreaking ceremony for the future after flooding!
The groundbreaking ceremony for the new fire station in Stetten has been completed. Although the weather was rather cloudy at the beginning of June, a solemn ceremony took place, led by fire brigade commander Ewald Baur. In addition to commanders from neighboring fire departments, the guests also included numerous members of the local council. In his speech, Baur emphasized the importance of the new building after the devastating flood damage last year. “A big step for Stetten,” said Mayor Dominik Scholz, who acknowledged the event and emphasized the importance of the project for the local community.
The decision to build a new building was the result of intensive discussions about the best location. The new fire station will now move the town center towards the church and the old school building. With a budget of around two million euros, it is hoped that long-term improvements and better operational readiness will be achieved, which is essential in today's world.
Modern design and sustainable construction
The architectural design, realized by the Bauke and Hübner office, promises a modern and sustainable design. Architect Dirk Hübner announced that the building will be constructed using solid construction and will meet the KfW 40 energy standard. This sustainability is reflected, among other things, in the fire station's equipment with photovoltaic systems and a heat pump.
Particular attention was paid to the internal heating planning: the underfloor heating in the vehicle hall should ensure that the floor surface dries quickly on wet days. This is not only practical, but also ensures that the fire brigade is more operational when it matters most.
A look outside the box
Also interesting is the construction of a similar fire station in Saarland, which was realized by the architects Michaeli and Jung. This project included a one- and two-story construction with attached functional rooms and a parking space. Such modern, functional solutions show how important not only practicality but also aesthetic aspects are in the architecture of fire stations.
Another example is the newly built fire station in Bad Boll, which is made of exposed concrete and covers a total of 1,300 square meters. Its multifunctional design offers space for community use and shows a future-proof design with a high standard in terms of energy efficiency. The “Exemplary Building” award from the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects proves that such projects receive recognition not only locally, but also regionally.
It is hoped that the fire station in Stetten will be completed quickly. Architect Hübner optimistically expressed the goal of an inauguration in about a year. At a time when climate protection and efficient structures are becoming increasingly important, this new building in Stetten is not only progress for the fire department, but also a step towards a sustainable future.
