Artur Schmidt: The pioneer for the digital future in the Main-Tauber district!
The Election of the FDP candidate Artur Schmidt provides a breath of fresh air in the political landscape of the Main-Tauber district. The 36-year-old self-employed master hairdresser was unanimously elected at the FDP general meeting in Lauda. Tim Gacek, 18 years old and high school student from Niederstetten, will enter the race as a replacement candidate. Both candidates embody the desire for more engagement and participation of young people in politics.
In his introductory speech, Schmidt highlighted the challenges facing the regional economy. “The bureaucratic hurdles are too high, energy costs are rising, and the shortage of skilled workers worries us,” he emphasized. In order to improve the situation, Schmidt is calling for measures to relieve the burden on companies and greater support for dual training.
Focus on digitalization
One of Schmidt's central concerns is improving infrastructure and digitalization in rural areas. “The dilapidated roads, the inadequate public transport and the lack of broadband internet are some of the biggest problems that we urgently need to address,” continued Schmidt. The “Land.Digital” program The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture wants to start exactly here: It promotes the use of modern digital technologies to improve life and work in rural areas. From 2017 to 2022, 48 model projects made progress in areas such as mobility and healthcare.
The need for accelerated fiber optic expansion is becoming increasingly clear. According to reports, inadequate internet connections are still commonplace in many rural communities. This impacts education and career opportunities. A survey shows that 70% of Germans live in cities and more and more dream of moving to the countryside, mainly because of better living conditions and cheaper rent prices.
Volunteering and healthcare
Another concern of Schmidt is the strengthening of volunteer work and long-term planning in health care and geriatric care. He is committed to reducing bureaucratic hurdles and increasing financial support for volunteer work. “The community must stick together so that we can continue to provide good health care in the future,” he noted. This corresponds to the results of the Digitalization of rural regions, which shows how important a strong network is for care and social participation.
Schmidt also wants to promote dialogue with young people. His colleague Gacek brings a breath of fresh air with the aim of regaining trust in politics and involving the younger generation. “We have to show that we are prepared to make difficult decisions and actively work for our values,” explained Gacek about the motivation for his political commitment.
With Schmidt and Gacek, the FDP in the Main-Tauber district sees itself well positioned to address the challenges of the future and make rural areas attractive.
