Kornwestheim united: 150 women at the interreligious breakfast!

On November 8, 2025, a very special interfaith women's breakfast took place in Kornwestheim. Around 150 women from the Christian and Muslim communities came together to have breakfast in the newly inaugurated premises of the new mosque complex. This ceremonial opening, which took place just a week earlier, provided a pleasant setting for the exchange and encounters that were the focus of the event. The theme of the breakfast, “God’s Houses – Religions and their Buildings”, offered many starting points for exciting conversations and learning together.

Mechthild Demmer and Hümeyra Aydin gave an impressive joint presentation about the origins of religious buildings and their spiritual meaning. The women thus had the opportunity not only to enjoy culinary delicacies, but also to gain deeper insights into the diversity of faith. After breakfast, Hümeyra Aydin led the participants through the new mosque premises, where they were able to view the prayer rooms and learn more about the construction and the symbolism of the architecture. The event culminated in a common prayer that symbolized the solidarity of the women across religious boundaries. Stuttgart News reports that this was a valuable opportunity to promote friendship and understanding.

A new home for dialogue

In the context of interreligious meetings, it should not be forgotten that such events have a long tradition in Kornwestheim. Since 2001, the participants have been meeting regularly with Muslim, Catholic and Protestant women to chat over a leisurely breakfast. These social gatherings offer a platform for getting to know each other and exchanging ideas about everyday and religious topics. Evangelical Neutraubling emphasizes that the meetings take place on the fourth Thursday of the month across different rooms - be it in the mosque, in the Catholic parish hall or in the Protestant parish hall. The events are always prepared in collaboration with an interreligious women's team.

Next year, the next interfaith women's breakfast will take place on April 18, 2026. Due to an extended construction phase of the new mosque, the traditional rhythm of events was briefly interrupted. The last two meetings therefore took place in the Johanneskirche and were organized by Christian hosts. It's always about more than just a shared brunch - the focus is on living together and respecting each other's beliefs.

In Kornwestheim, this continues to make a significant contribution to promoting interreligious dialogue and mutual acceptance. Such events are more important than ever to build bridges between cultures and religions and to deepen understanding of the respective faith communities.
