CEO Jochen Weyrauch confirmed that this measure not only affects the headquarters where around 2,300 people are employed, but also other locations. The aim is to save 50 million euros annually, with over half of the jobs in Germany. As far as possible, Dürr wants to make the job cuts socially acceptable and relies on severance payment programs to avoid operational terminations. The reasons for the job cuts are complex. The demand in the second quarter of 2023 remained behind the expectations, in particular due to the US customs policy and a stagnant change to electric cars. In addition, the forecast for the orders this year has experienced a strong damper, and the company has now adapted it down to 3.8 to 4.1 billion euros from originally 4.3 to 4.7 billion euros.
