Angry cyclists in Winterbach are demanding faster expansion of the cycle paths!
The cycle path towards Winterbach remains a hotly debated topic. It has been clear for some time that the path ends shortly after Hohengehren and cyclists are forced to take the road until the Goldboden intersection. More and more cyclists are fighting for improved conditions in the region Zvw.de reported. Many are frustrated by the lack of alternatives and find the current situation intolerable.
Another reason for the dissatisfaction of cyclists is the cross-district traffic show that recently took place at Goldboden. Miran Rebec, a committed everyday cyclist, sharply criticized the event as an “alibi number” because they were obviously not prepared to impose real restrictions on drivers. He calls not only for dialogue, but also for action to create a safe and attractive cycling infrastructure.
Construction projects and funding
Against this background, the urgent question remains about accelerating planning processes. A publication by the German Institute for Standardization (Difu) on the subject of “KoRa: Eliminating obstacles to implementation in municipal cycling planning” points out the different administrative processes that prevail in German municipalities. The aim is to use a newly developed online tool, the Quick Check for municipal cycling promotion, in order to generate individual recommendations for action. The objective is clear: the promotion of cycling should be optimized in order to make cycling in our cities more attractive, as in Difu can be read.
It remains to be hoped that those responsible will recognize the signs of the times and soon turn things around for the cycling infrastructure in and around Winterbach. Those coming by bike might soon be able to concentrate on the road again instead of being annoyed about inadequate paths.
