Sindelfingen's Glass Palace shakes: 900 children dance and romp!
A colorful group of almost 900 children whirled energetically through the Glass Palace in Sindelfingen on June 28, 2025. On the occasion of the 17th “Sindelfingen on the Move” day of action, the little athletes took the opportunity to try out a variety of sports. The joy of movement became noticeable and the noise level of the excited children increased noticeably over the course of the day, especially when the second group of around 300 children danced to the summer hits “Danza Kuduro” and “Ab in den Süd” at the end of the “Superdance” with dance trainer Linda Dunkel. According to krzbb.de the atmosphere was simply fantastic and the joy of sport was unmistakable.
The concept behind “Sindelfingen in Motion” goes back to the Sindelfingen Community Foundation and has now entered its eleventh round. The project was launched together with the city of Sindelfingen, the StahlSportShop, the AOK Stuttgart-Böblingen and other partners. The starting signal was given on April 4, 2019 with the fitness day “Join in. Get fit.”. This initiative focuses entirely on the little participants because the goal is to inspire children to lead an active lifestyle. buergerstiftung-sindelfingen.de highlights that over 1,300 children and around 30 different sports are part of the offer, which take place in facilities such as the Glass Palace, the SportWelt and the tennis halls.
Focus on exercise and health
The day of action is also part of a larger trend in Germany, which is summarized under the motto “IN FORM”. This initiative aims to improve nutrition and exercise habits and promotes an active lifestyle for children and adults. Programs such as “Fitness for Kids” or “TigerKids” rely on the early integration of exercise and are scientifically supported by the German Sport University Cologne in order to address health challenges. Various organizations report more on this, including on the education server. Approaches such as the “student marathon” or special judo sports days also show how important such exercise initiatives are for the healthy development of children.
The positive response from city representatives and school principals underlines the relevance and necessity of such projects. The community foundation works tirelessly to ensure and promote access to exercise and sports opportunities in the local area, because the well-being of children is our top priority. With this in mind, a lot will continue to be done in the future to further ignite enthusiasm for sport and exercise.
