Traffic chaos in Lörrach: Important diversions due to construction work!

There is a lot of work being done on the digital infrastructure in Lörrach. From June 23, 2025, further construction work will be carried out to advance the expansion of the heating network. The first construction phase extends until July 18th and affects the area between the retirement home and Weinbrennerstrasse 5. During this time, the northbound lane will be completely closed. Drivers have to prepare for diversions, but the Burghof car park is still accessible. The southbound passage remains open for cyclists and buses, while car traffic is not permitted here. The city will provide timely information about the necessary diversions.

But this is not the only construction project that the Lörrachers have in store. At the same time, work on broadband expansion will continue. These began on March 28, 2025 in Freiburger Straße and Mühlestraße. The broadband network of the Lörrach district association is being expanded at these two locations. There are restrictions here too: The work on Mühlestrasse extends from the Sparkasse area to the Freiburger Strasse intersection, although access to the shops at Mühlestrasse 6 to 12 remains open. Traffic can pass in both directions on Freiburger Straße during construction work. Nevertheless, partial closures are made at night in order to lay cables.

Traffic restrictions and diversions

Some of the traffic disruptions are unavoidable because diversions have to be set up during the construction work. During the first week of April, residents should expect that there could be temporary closures in the traffic light area of Mühlestrasse in the evenings. For drivers heading into the city, it is advisable to keep an eye on the current traffic flow. The city of Lörrach will provide comprehensive information about the construction sites on its website. Another area that will be affected is the junction of Alten Mühlestrasse and Freiburger Strasse, where residents will also be informed.

The measures to lay new fiber optic cables are not only important for the residents, but also for the schools in Lörrach. By connecting to the fast broadband network, educational institutions benefit significantly from the increased digital performance. Work on other streets, such as Wallbrunnstrasse and Haagener Strasse, has been underway since March 2023. The completion of the work on Freiburger Straße and Mühlestraße is scheduled for May 30, 2025, but it is expected that the diversions will have to be continually adjusted by this point.
Citizens are encouraged to regularly check the city's website for information about the current status of construction work. Good planning can help make daily journeys as smooth as possible despite the construction work.

For Lörrach, this not only means a step into the future, but also that it proactively faces the challenges in public transport. Whether it's the expansion of heat supply or digital networking - work is being done with foresight to ensure that the city is well positioned in the future.
