The newly agreed grant of 20,000 euros annually for 2026, 2027 and 2028 will support the preservation of traditional events, including the famous Gugge explosion and the colorful parades through the pedestrian zone. The city of Lörrach remains true to its previous support, and half of the cost of electricity consumption remains, which overall represents a solid foundation for the fools' guild. Long-term planning security
The agreement not only provides current support, but also ensures greater planning security. Future events should largely be based on the 2025 carnival in terms of structure and concept, without applying for new elements. This pleased many in the local council, who signaled a broad majority in favor of it. Even if some parliamentary group representatives expressed different opinions, the solution was supported by the majority. The Greens called for more transparency about the use of funds, but supported the subsidy option.
The CDU described the agreement as support for the traditional carnival, while the SPD and the Free Voters also praised the clarity and soundness of the solution. In this context, Mayor Jörg Lutz emphasized the great importance of the Lörrach carnival for city life and the need for good cooperation. Senior Guild Master Michael Lindemer expressed relief at the agreement and sees the potential for a better relationship of trust between the Fools' Guild and the city.
