Lörrach plans drastic increase in parking fees by 2030!

Lörrach, Deutschland - The city of Lörrach faces a cutting of the parking space. As the reported, the municipal council increased the fees for residents' parking in 2023. The impetus for this reform was a final report by the Klimam mobile competence network and the local transport company Baden-Württemberg, which recommended that the parking fees increase. Currently, residents have to pay 120 euros per year, which corresponds to only 33 cents per day.

The city administration has now proposed a gradual increase to one euro per day, which would result in an annual fee of 360 euros. According to the current plans, fees 2026 should be raised to 180 euros, in 2028 to 252 euros and finally in 2030 to 360 euros. This affects both residents' parking and public road parking spaces, the fees of which are also to increase.

Current parking fees and zones

For drivers in Lörrach, parking is regulated in different zones. In Parkzone 1, the fees keep 70 cents per hour, while in the lower zones there are a wide variety of tariffs: In zone 2 it costs only 25 cents per started for 20 minutes with a maximum parking time of two hours. In Zone 4, which is aimed at long-term parkers and commuters, the daily parking certificate costs 5 euros and the monthly parking license, as can be read on the urban website Loerrach.de

For residents with parking permits, some areas remain free of charge. However, the city also recommends expanding resident parking to the Nordstadt, as it is currently used by various people for free parking. The introduction of a parking zone is also planned, in which it can only be parked in designated areas. This should cost from Monday to Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

technological innovations and controls

For the implementation of the new regulations, parking ticket machines and "mobile phone brands" are to be used in order to reduce the administrative effort. In addition, an effective parking space control will be used, which is to be carried out by the community enforcement service (GVD). The parking spaces are marked in white so that everything remains clear.

The trend towards increasing parking fees and improving parking space management cannot only be observed in Lörrach. In Berlin, the Senate also plans a comprehensive reform of parking space management, in which, among other things, supermarket parking spaces and private parking garages are to be integrated into the public system. The planned changes include the simplification of the application for parking vignettes and the use of technologies for the control of the resting traffic, such as Development city.de

These measures show the efforts to contemporary parking space management, which not only meets the needs of the residents, but also a growing city. The goal will be to include the different social groups in this process and find sustainable solutions.
