Plant excursion on the botanical garden: discover the diversity!

An exciting event is imminent: On Saturday, June 28, 2025, an event for plant determination and inventory will take place at the University of Konstanz. From 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., all plant lovers and interested parties are invited to expand their knowledge of domestic plant species and to get to know their determination features. The excursion is organized by the Nature positive universities initiative in cooperation with the forum Konstanz.

under the direction of three experienced lecturers - Prof. Dr. Mark van Kleunen, Apl. Prof. Dr. Veit Martin Dörken and Dr. Gregor Schmitz - an inventory of plant diversity is to be created on campus and in the surrounding nature. This initiative is a step towards more sustainable education and promotes awareness of biological diversity, as well as Education for sustainable development

The event is not only a good opportunity to discover plants in their natural habitat, but also a way to experience conviviality. Groups of wild -growing domestic plants are presented among the interested parties, and the participants can look forward to an exciting excursion in the nearby field. The meeting point is the botanical garden of the university, for which a travel plan is provided.

The registration takes place easily by email to nature--positive@uni-konstanz.de . The event offers all participants the opportunity to actively get involved in nature conservation and at the same time to learn more about the local flora.

This event is part of the Nature Positive Universities Initiative , which encourages universities worldwide to use natural resources more sustainably. In various countries, students and educational institutions implement initiatives that range from shared garbage collections to reforestation projects. For example, Favour founded a natural group at the University of Benin to strengthen the student commitment to the environment.

Apart from the local measures, it is clear that the commitment to the environment also accepts global proportions. The initiative aims to protect biodiversity and promote sustainable solutions, as well as Berlin environmental education that wants to raise awareness of individual responsibility towards nature and the environment.
