New skate park in Constance: a place for all skaters and families!

Konstanz, Deutschland - in Constance on Lake Constance something happens! The old skate park at the youth club Berchen is history; Only rusty metal edges and broken concrete slabs remain behind. The old facility had long been outdated and was used little. But now there is fresh wind in the skate community! The Knallbrett skate club, the first of its kind in the city, has charged the task of building a new skate park. A navigable concrete pool (Bowl) with gentle transitions is planned to offer skaters of all experience levels.

like [Südkurier] (https://www.suedkurier.de/region/kreis-konstanz/oller-Einze-fuer-den-neuen-skatepark-verein-knallbrett-baut-am--am-berchen ;art3724413687), the city of Constance supports this project with 150,000 euros from the Youth. In addition, the Badische Sportbund contributes 100,000 euros. Despite these generous grants, the financing is a challenge. The association still has to raise 30,000 euros to finance ramps, seating, a lighting system and tools. To achieve this, a donation campaign runs, and volunteers pack up vigorously.

joint efforts and future prospects

For two weeks, around 20 volunteers have been in use, supported by local companies that provide vehicles, containers and building materials. The new skate park should be ready by the end of July, with the aim of an official opening in September at the final of the Lake Constance Skate Cup. A big step for the skate community! The new park is not only intended for skating, but should be a room for everyone interested, with a special focus on the integration of girls and women.

With a new offer, the club members want to bring women and girls specifically to skating. This is where bright board sets clear accents to promote an inclusive community. Accessibility is also very important - the park is designed in such a way that people with a wheelchair can also use it without any problems.

a place for encounter and community

The club's visionary plans have no name yet. But one thing is certain: the community is invited to make suggestions. This not only promotes the sense of community, but also ensures that users can identify with the new location. The equipment will not only include ramps and rails, but also rental boards and protective equipment to facilitate access to skating. This is also evident with the intention of designing the skate park as a meeting place for children, adolescents and families, as well as boarding station.

The current developments are part of a larger trend in Germany, where the number of public skate parks increases rapidly and skateboarding has also been considered an official discipline since the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. The view that skate parks as part of the youth culture are an important element in sports development is underlined by many experts. As explained [Sportstättenkrechner] (https://www.sportstaettenrechner.de/planung-von-skateparks- between-Jugendkultur- und-Olympia/), modern town concrete skatparks with a long perspective of around 20 years are planned to remain attractive in the long term.

For Constance, this new skate park is more than just a facility for skating - it is a symbolic place for community, integration and the expression of youth culture. While the preparations continue, hope remains great that this place will become a popular meeting place for future generations.
