Michelin stars 2025: Ulm bosses in the race for the coveted awards!

On Tuesday evening, June 17, 2025, the time has finally come: the long-awaited announcement of the Michelin stars for the new edition of the “Guide Michelin” is coming up. In the Ulm, Neu-Ulm and Biberach region, it is eagerly awaited to see which restaurateurs can secure a place in the prestigious guide this year. To date, the region has had four Michelin stars, and restaurateurs are highly motivated to expand on this success.

The focus is particularly on the young and talented Alina Meissner-Bebrout, who has held a Michelin star with her restaurant bi:braut in Ulm's Büchsengasse since 2023. Not only has she made a name for herself, but she has also been awarded the Young Chef Award, underscoring her place in the top echelon of gastronomy. In addition to bi:braut, she has also been running the Brasserie Edda since 2014, where she sets culinary accents and thus enriches the gastronomy scene in Ulm.

Hoping for more stars

But Alina Meissner-Bebrout is not the only one hoping for new awards. Klaus Buderath and Hans Häge junior, both well-known faces in the Ulm gastronomy industry, are also looking for more stars. The situation is particularly exciting in the restaurant “Esszimmer im Oberschwäbischen Hof” in Schwendi, where Julius Reisch has had a Michelin star for two years and continues to fight to keep it.

Klaus Buderath and Benedikt Wittek, who have been able to defend their 18th star with their restaurant “Seestern” since 2024, are extremely optimistic about the future and are now hoping for the coveted 19th star. Hans Häge junior could also receive his twelfth star this evening, which would further consolidate his position in the high-class kitchen.

Changed cuisine

In contrast to the hopeful faces, there is also sad news: The Siedepunkt restaurant in Böfingen has lost its star and has remained closed since the head chef left in spring 2024. This is a clear indication of how dynamic and challenging the region's gastronomy is.

The importance of Michelin stars cannot be overstated. They are not only a sign of quality, but also valuable support for restaurateurs. Like the reporting on Hogapage shows, young talents like Alina Meissner-Bebrout are increasingly being recognized and celebrated. Other greats in the catering industry such as Christian Bau, who received the Mentor Chef Award, also show how important it is to pass on knowledge and experience to the next generation.

The tension is rising and the eyes of gourmets are on Ulm. With such a talented pool of chefs and a goal in mind since the bi:braut restaurant raised the bar, the signs are good that Ulm's dining scene will surprise again this year. Who will take home the coveted stars? Only time will tell – but one thing is certain: there’s something going on in Ulm’s cuisine!
