There's a lot going on in Schwäbisch Gmünd this weekend! From July 5th to 6th, the city's citizens and visitors can expect exciting events with something for everyone. Whether bowling, light installations or festivals – the city shows its liveliest side.
On Sunday, July 6th, the mood in the lighthouse, Lorcherstrasse 24, will be particularly high. The final of the 12th open Gmünder Bowling Championship will take place there from 6 p.m. Sixteen men, eight women and seven teams are fighting for the coveted Heinz Strohmaier Memorial Cup. For bowling fans, don't miss out on the bowling prices: you can bowl for 30 euros per hour until 7 p.m., and from 7 p.m. the price increases to 32 euros. For families there is a tariff of 28 euros until 7 p.m., then also 32 euros; rental shoes cost two euros.
A colorful weekend
The weekend starts with an impressive light installation called “Borealis”, which opens on Friday, July 4th in Remspark. From 5 p.m., guests can admire the installation, which shines in full splendor from 10 p.m. Entry is free and with 1,200 seats as well as five food trucks and six drinks carts, a great ambience awaits visitors.
Another highlight will take place on Saturday, July 5th: the techno festival “Grounded Outdoor”, which starts at 12 p.m. in the West “Krähe” industrial estate. Here, party guests can expect a 35-meter-wide stage and international artists will provide unforgettable beats until midnight. Entry costs 34 euros, group tickets for five people are available for 136 euros, and the price at the box office is 38 euros.
Tradition and sport
Anyone who likes something a little more traditional will find what they are looking for on Saturday at the AGV 1955 70s Festival at the Kornhaus, Kornhausstraße 14. The day begins with a champagne breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed by parades at 8:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. Entry to this joyful event is free.
And sports enthusiasts don't miss out either: the summer ski event will take place in Degenfeld on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday. The highlight will be the mat ski jumping on Sunday from 1 p.m., where the two-time ski jumping world champion Anna Hollandt will also be present. The venue is the SC Degenfeld ski jump, Kreuzbergweg.

But the region offers even more this weekend! The 24th city festival will take place in Eislingen from July 4th to 6th, with a colorful program for young and old. In Böbingen an der Rems there will also be entertainment on Saturday by the acoustic cover band “Cath’n Country” under the motto “Country at the Backhaus”.
In Heubach, the children's festival also starts on Saturday morning at 6 a.m. with firecrackers and a parade that attracts around 2,000 children, and in Göppingen “Mörike's World” invites you to a musical and scenic evening on Sunday.
And for those who want more: There will be a poetry slam in Schwäbisch Gmünd on July 11th, followed by a party night with DJ Ötzi on July 12th. An exciting program that puts the city in a good mood!
