New educational quarter Hardt: Urban development comes alive!
Hardt, Schwäbisch Gmünd, Deutschland - in Schwäbisch Gmünd something happens! At the Hardt location, the former barracks area is redesigned and develops into a living and "sponge city". With the focus on storing rainwater for dry times, this project is an important step in modern urban planning. The current design is concretely implemented as part of the international building exhibition IBA´27, as the city administration explains on its website, and we can be excited!
An exciting information event will take place on Tuesday, July 8, at 3 p.m. The meeting point is the red info container on Antiber Straße on the Hardt. Mayor Julius Mihm will present the innovative plans and models. There is also an opportunity to examine the intermediate results of the multiple commission "Bildungsquartier Hardt/Iba´27", in which five architectural offices will present their urban designs. educational quarters in focus
The Hardt training district could become a key factor in urban development between the Hardt residential area and the neighboring University of Education. This is not only a profit for the residents, but also for the educational institutions that can benefit from a lively environment. The approach of wanting to combine the functions of living, learning and sustainable technology testifies to a clear view of the future.
But what exactly does the international building exhibition do so special? The IBA, which has existed for over 100 years, serves as an experimental field for innovative architecture and urban development. As reports bmwsb.bund.de, the format has changed from a pure architectural exhibition, in which social, economical and ecological aspects are increasingly in the center back. Examples such as the Weißenhof settlement in Stuttgart or the Hansaviertel in Berlin show that IBA projects not only receive radiance locally but also international.
With the IBA´27, which runs until 2027, there is also the opportunity to participate in a process that is of great importance for urban development in the region. The concerns and challenges of today's cities-in particular climate protection, mobility and affordable living-were recently discussed on an IBA expert council. Here there was a lively exchange about the requirements that are placed on future developments.
The IBA wants to help to reorganize urban development. And with the Bildungsquartier Hardt, Schwäbisch Gmünd is on the right track to position itself as a pioneer in this area. It remains exciting to observe how the area between Hardt and the university will develop and which models and ideas the architects will present. A visit to the information event on July 8th is highly recommended!
For more information, interested parties can also visit the IBA blog to get current information and insights into the developments around the Hardt education district.
There is a lot in the flow here and it is clear: there is something for urban development in Schwäbisch Gmünd. Take part!
