Leutkirch Frauenbund on a pilgrimage to the Holy Berg Oberschwabens!
In the hot summer of 2025, the Catholic Frauenbund Leutkirch set off an unforgettable excursion. At over 30 degrees Celsius, the group started their journey at the train station together with the visiting service of the parish of St. Martin, where they got into a modern, full -climatized bus. The first stop led them to the beautiful pilgrimage church of St. Peter and Paul in Steinhausen, which is considered one of the most beautiful village churches in the world for many. This baroque church, built by Dominikus Zimmermann between 1728 and 1733, is considered the main work of the Wessobrunner school and shows the splendor of the early Rokoko, as wikipedia reports.
The church is characterized by its magnificent ceiling frescoes by Johann Baptist and its location on the Upper Swabian Jakobsweg. Visitors admired the impressive architecture, which impresses with many decorations and religious paintings, while the interior conveys the feeling of a baroque masterpiece. After all, Steinhausen was mentioned as "Stainhusen" in 1239 and can look back on a long history.
Visit to the St. Georgskirche and the bus
After the contemplative hold at the pilgrimage church, in which around 50 participants celebrated a service, we continued to the Holy Berg Oberschwabens - the bus. Here there is a breathtaking view and the opportunity to visit the old castle complex with your lookout tower. The church roots of this site go far back; The bus was already mentioned in 805 in the St. Gallen monastery and has been captivating pilgrims and visitors since then. In addition, the region is a well -known Marien pilgrimage location that has been attracting believers for centuries.
The participants also had time to rest after the service. With coffee and freshly baked braided bread, the day and the beautiful experiences were spoken. "A nice day, a lot of joy and the community did really well again," said one participant's time together. The excursion, which was issued as a star pilgrimage of the region's women's association, found a warm conclusion.
engagement in the women's association
The members of the Catholic Women's Association of Leutkirch are still active and invite you to get involved. Interested parties can contact the parish office of Leutkirch to learn more about the monthly events or to start a trial membership. Every first Wednesday of the month at 9 a.m. the women's association fair takes place in St. Martin, where new members are very welcome. The visiting service, which brings greetings and gifts to seniors, also testifies to the social commitment of the group.
The day was not only an opportunity to reflect, but above all a nice get -together that further strengthens the community in the Catholic Women's Association of Leutkirch. With this in mind you can say that the trip definitely had a good knack for the soul.
