SPD in the Alb-Donau district: strong and ready for the 2026 election campaign!

Blausteiner Lixpark, Alb-Donau-Kreis, Deutschland - Preparations for the 2026 state election in Baden-Württemberg are in full swing. Chairman Dieter Baumann welcomed around two dozen members at the annual general meeting of the SPD in the Alb-Donau district, which recently took place in the Lixpark restaurant in Blaustein. A central topic was the upcoming election to the 18th state parliament, which will take place on March 8, 2026. In his review of the Bundestag election campaign, Baumann emphasized the committed appearance of the members. The SPD has already launched exciting events, such as the blue light event in cooperation with the Illerkirchberg fire brigade and an active door-to-door election campaign in Ehingen, which was particularly emphasized.

In order to promote family friendliness, digitization is also not neglected: The SPD district association has invested in the equipment of hybrid events and checks a revision of the website with a voluntary help. There was also an interesting idea of Sandra Spang, the chairman of the AG 60 Plus, which deals with important topics such as living in old age and care.

Current challenges and opportunities

Another discussion point was the deletion of the free public transport monthly tickets for primary school children, which would cost the municipalities around one million euros. Klara Dorner explained that only the users of the card had to pay and referred to the possibilities of the Germany tickets. Martin Rivoir, the SPD member of the state parliament, has their say. He criticized the financial situation of the municipalities and emphasized that the state of Baden-Württemberg had the necessary funds to support the communities. However, he warned of the danger that federal funds may not be able to arrive at the municipalities.

For the Alb-Donau district, Lisa Späth and Steffen Reik took over the candidacy for the upcoming election. Intend both Späth and Reik to bring topics such as education, local finances, all -day care and economy into the election campaign. Späth will compete against the CDU top candidate Manuel Hagel and appealed to the members to support the SPD in the best possible support in the election campaign. Their goal is to improve the current survey values of only ten percent for the SPD in the country.

The state election: A look at the political landscape

The preparations of the SPD are not isolated. The parties coordinate their election campaigns all over Baden-Württemberg. According to Tagesschau have the SPD and the FDP party days. While the SPD meets in Fellbach, the FDP will meet in Pforzheim. In the meantime, Andreas Stoch, who wants to stand up as the top candidate of the SPD, has also dealt with central issues such as living, education and business. It is thought of greater diversity in the future faction in order to integrate a stronger regional representation and more women.

The state election 2026 has been referred to as the "mother of all elections". Historically, the CDU had the legend in the southwest for decades, while the SPD always had to struggle to gain a foothold. According to Landtag elections-bw.de there were periods in which the CDU ruled from 1972 to 1992 without interruption. Within this political landscape it will be shown whether the SPD, which was last represented in the state government before 2011, can again gain influence.

The course for an exciting choice is set. Now it remains to be seen which topics the voters will mobilize and whether the SPD receives the necessary encouragement in order to get out of the current survey low. The state election will not only decide on the future of the SPD, but also about whether the political landscape in Baden-Württemberg will change.
