Fireplaces in the Rhein-Neckar district closed until further notice!

Rhein-Neckar-Kreis, Deutschland - The summer temperatures not only bring sunshine, but also a great risk this year: The lower forest authority of the Rhein-Neckar district has announced today that all fireplaces in the entire district are closed from Thursday, July 3. This is due to the persistently high risk of forest fire, which follows the closure of the grilling points in the forests of the Rhine level. Manfred Robens, head of the district forestry office, commented on: "The weather forecasts do not expect permanent reduction in the risk of forest fire".

The high forest fire index of the German Weather Service for the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis, which indicates a significant risk with level 4 of 5, is particularly alarming. The DWD has found that 42 out of a total of 60 measuring stations in Baden-Württemberg show a "high risk" for forest fires. A brief look at the weather shows that there have been no large amounts of rain - a fact that further exacerbates the situation.

smoking and grilling forbidden

The lower forest authority appeals to all forest visitors to observe the existing smoking ban, which applies from March 1 to October 31. "Almost every forest fire in Germany is caused by humans, often unintentionally due to a lack of caution," explains Robens. Compliance with grill and smoking bans is strictly controlled, violations can be punished with fines of up to 2,500 euros. These regulations are not new: Appropriate general orders have also been issued in the district of Karlsruhe, and similar measures apply in other regions such as Stuttgart, Reutlingen and Freiburg.

The risk of forest fire is an urgent topic, especially in summer. Last year, 1,059 forest fires were registered in Germany, which destroyed about 1,240 hectares of forest area. Although these numbers are below the long -term average, the burned area is over 40% higher than the mean. Most affected are the months of May and June in which many fires have to be registered.

behavior in nature

In view of these dangers, it is important to act carefully. In the case of longer drought, a spark can be enough to trigger a devastating forest fire. Therefore, experts advise never to dispose of cigarette buttocks in the forest and park cars and motorcycles on designated parking spaces. Grilling should only take place in places intended for this, and the embers must be disposed of safely - not in garbage cans to avoid fires.

The authorities and the fire brigade therefore ask for consideration and mindfulness. Discovered fire should be reported immediately via emergency call 112. In order to avoid further dangerous situations, all leisure activities in the forest should be chosen carefully. Further information is available on the website of the Rhein-Neckar district to ensure that everyone remains well informed.
