An innovative health project is being tested in Mosbach that could revolutionize access to medical care. Kaufland has set up a so-called medical room in its branch, which is located in the checkout area. Here, customers can talk to doctors from the S | Medical Center of Sana MVZ am Stiftsberg GmbH. How ZWP Online reports, the offer is intended to help facilitate access to medical services, especially in rural areas with long waiting times.
The Medical Room covers an area of 54 square meters and resembles a small family doctor's office. Medical assistants support patients on site by carrying out simple measurements and coordinating appointments. Those interested can make appointments digitally or on site. Check-in is usually carried out conveniently using a smartphone; alternatively, a rental tablet can be used.
Unique supply concept
The concept, which Peter Silberhorn, co-managing director of Sana, describes as unique in Germany, is suitable for both initial examinations and follow-up examinations. However, before the video conversation with a doctor takes place, it is checked in advance whether the symptoms can be assessed via telemedicine. If this is not possible, patients will be referred to appropriate doctor's offices or medical facilities.
In addition to the telemedicine offer, the Medical Room also offers preventative health measures for self-payers. This includes, among other things, bioelectrical impedance analysis, which provides information about fat, muscle mass and water content. A small lifestyle check also helps to better classify your health status.
Pilot project with growth potential
Kaufland sees the project as a pilot test and is interested in gaining experience in order to possibly expand further locations. The S | Medical Room is open Monday through Saturday and hours are 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. With around 1.1 million square meters of rental space, Kaufland has big plans to integrate additional offerings and redesign health care in supermarkets Kaufland announces.
This step could be groundbreaking for the future of healthcare in Germany and ensure that, where necessary, people in their own neighborhood have quicker and easier access to medical help.
