Wertheim saves hospital: entrepreneurs help with 800,000 euros!

Mayor Markus Herrera Torrez set a strong sign of health care for the region during an entrepreneur discussion in Wertheim. Under the urgent motto "The miracle of Wertheim - hospital care as a location factor", around 70 representatives of the domestic economy gathered to discuss the challenges and approaches for the local hospital. He emphasized how important companies were in the difficult situation: "Without the companies, we would not have made it." The healing supply is not only a question of health, but also a decisive location factor and responsibility for shareholders for employers.

In his speech, Herrera Torrez described the two -year struggle for the preservation of the hospital, which is responsible for the urgently needed emergency care. The city has to spend a deficiency compensation of 2.75 million euros annually in order to maintain emergency care. An increase in trade tax is considered, which could bring additional additional income of around 1.4 million euros. The commitment of the companies is indispensable: a total of 800,000 euros in donations for emergency care have already collected a total of 800,000 euros, with over 550,000 euros from large donations.

Health policy in focus

The precarious location of the hospitals is now also an issue at an overarching level. Current reports from wsi.de show that in the hospital sector is suffered from a shortage of skilled workers, underfunding and incorrect supply. Decades of health policy decisions have created a precarious situation in which reforms often have inadequate effect. The discussion about hospital care in Wertheim fits this context: Although there is fundamental awareness of problem in politics, the existing solutions are not sufficient to adequately cope with the challenges.

The changes in the German hospital landscape are obvious. A report by pwc.de indicates that the market is often in a consolidation process that often triggers existence in smaller facilities. The number of hospitals has dropped significantly in the past two decades, from over 2,200 to around 1,900. This presents many clinics with the challenge of becoming clear to their future position in healthcare and planning the necessary strategic changes in order to remain high -quality and qualitatively.

new momentum for the region

In the course of the entrepreneur discussion, the situation and development of the commercial areas in Wertheim was also discussed. Managing Director Jürgen Ruchti reported on the positive customer reviews and use of the innovative charging park "Home of Mobility" in Bettingen, which is considered one of the most advanced loading parks in Germany. This is just one of the many building blocks that the city needs to continue to act as an attractive location in the future. Economic supporters Jürgen Strahlheim informed about the few available commercial space, which are to be expanded in the coming years. The development of 11 hectares on the Almosenberg begins in August 2024, while the development of a 9 hectare area in the Reinhardshof industrial estate until mid -2027.

Another future -oriented project is the Job engine 2028 initiative, which was presented by Ulrike Müller. The aim of this initiative is to promote the exchange between companies, educational institutions and the administration in order to secure the region's need for skilled workers in the long term. The next network meeting of the initiative will soon take place on July 24th.

With these conversations and projects, Wertheim shows that the future of health care and regional economy is taken seriously. After all, the health of the citizens and the economic stability of the region is closely linked.
