Adventure and conviviality: autumn events at the Albverein Öhringen!
What's going on? The region around Öhringen has shown a lot of movement in the last few days. Not only does nature invite you to take part in activities, but community is also very important. Only recently, a seniors' circular hike took place as part of the Swabian Alb Association, which attracted numerous participants. This November 6th event featured a 6km route with a walking time of approximately two hours. Gertrud and Olaf Norkus led the group, which gathered at the Kultura parking lot at 1:30 p.m. Such events not only promote health, but also social exchange among the participants, as my voice reports.
In addition, the club does not stand still. A board election took place on April 5, 2025, in which Reiner Giesel was elected chairman. He is supported by Thomas Kallwitz as first deputy chairman, Ursula Bolay as secretary and Jürgen Vornberger, who takes over the office of treasurer. These new elections will bring a breath of fresh air to the association's activities and show the members' commitment to making a difference.
Outlook on upcoming events
The next dates have already been set and offer exciting opportunities to participate. The social Thursday meeting will take place on November 27th in the club room of the former forestry office. Everyone is welcome to attend from 7 p.m. If you like Christmas, you should mark December 7th in your calendar because that's when you go to the Christmas market in Heilbronn. The hike starts at 1:15 p.m. at Öhringen main station, and Klaus and Evelyn Steiner are available as leaders. The route of around 8 km promises a beautiful route through nature.
At the same time, a joint Advent celebration will be celebrated on December 20th in the Bürgerstüble Pfedelbach. From 6 p.m. there will not only be member honors, but also an entertaining supporting program. At the end of the year there will be a hike of around 10 km on December 30th. The meeting point is at 8:25 a.m. at the Öhringen main bus station. Karl-Heinz Fischer and Reiner Giesel will lead the group through this last walk together of the year.
Membership and community
The Swabian Alb Association also offers everyone the opportunity to become active through membership and to support the diverse offerings. The registration form is available online and everyone is invited to become part of this vibrant community. A regular newsletter entitled “Albverein aktuell” informs those interested about news and events. Information about this can also be found on the association's website, at öhringen.albverein.eu.
The events and the resulting encounters not only offer fresh air and exercise, but also help to strengthen cooperation. What is remarkable is how the Swabian Alb Association maintains this tradition and thus contributes to the quality of life in the region. It will be exciting to see how the community will continue to develop.
