Things will soon get busy again in Heidelberg! The Heidelberg Castle Festival 2025 promise an impressive event at the historic castle ruins from June 13th to August 3rd. Amidst the picturesque backdrop, a diverse program of drama, music, opera and dance awaits visitors.
With three venues – the castle courtyard, the “Big Tower” and the English Building – there is something for everyone. The opening is “The Count of Monte Cristo” based on the famous novel by Alexandre Dumas. On June 21st, the premiere of “Achtsam morden” based on the bestseller by Karsten Dusse will be celebrated in the “Dicken Turm”. If you want to come with the little ones, you shouldn't miss the children's play "The Emperor's New Clothes - Moth Time" on June 22nd in the English Building.
Musical highlights and culinary delights
Another highlight is the new production of Bizet's “Carmen”, which is on the program from June 28th. The Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra will also accompany several castle concerts. Special concerts such as “Young Voices” and “Ne me quitte pas” with Dominique Horwitz, as well as “Aconcagua – Tango sinfonico” make the hearts of all music lovers beat faster. The culinary offer “Melodies à la carte” with a festive menu and Mozart’s serenades ensures your physical well-being – a perfect combination of enjoyment and entertainment!
To make your visit to the castle ruins comfortable, a VRN combination ticket is offered, which is already included in the admission price and includes the cable car to the castle ruins. Shuttle buses are also available for special opera performances. If the weather doesn't cooperate, there is the option of relocating to the Royal Hall due to weather conditions.
An anniversary in sight
In 2024, the Castle Festival welcomed around 41,000 visitors. There is no end in sight to this! The anticipation for the 100th anniversary of the festival in 2026 is growing.The event will be a highlight of the cultural spring in the region not only for locals, but also for tourists from near and far.
