Aras memorial trip: Strengthen responsibility against right-wing extremism!

The focus in Baden-Württemberg in the next few days will be the focus when the Landtag President Muhterem Aras (Greens) visits several important places on July 17th and 18th, 2025. Your journey takes you through the districts of Böblingen, Ludwigsburg, Schwäbisch-Hall and Main-Tauber to talk to committed volunteers and to strengthen the importance of memory work. This initiative comes at a crucial time when society is increasingly confronted with the strengthening right -wing extremism. As the tixio is the memory of the victims of National Socialism of Essential importance to face the challenges of the present.

The first stations lead Aras in concentration camp memorials in Leonberg and Vaihingen/Enz. Between 1944 and 1945, around 5,000 prisoners from 24 nations had to do forced labor in the Engelberg tunnel between 1944 and 1945; Hundreds of them lost their lives. The reports about the concentration camp in Vaihingen/Enz are similarly tragic, where about 1,600 of the 2,500 prisoners who were used in the construction of a bunker work died. The evening in the Peterskirche in Vaihingen/Enz will be particularly urgent, where political scientist Rolf Frankenberger from the Institute for Right -Wing Extremism Research will give a lecture under the motto "Democracy and remembering - current challenges". Pupils from the Vaihingen/Enz youth music school take over the musical framework, as also from the

memory of the victims

On the second day of the memorial trip, Aras takes the synagogue into Michelbach/Lücke, the memorial "The Men of Brettheim" and the Jewish Museum in Creglingen. The memory "The men of Brettheim" is particularly moving because three men were murdered here after disarming Hitler cubs to prevent the village's defense. Such places should not only remind you of suffering, but also keep awareness of the crimes committed during the Nazi era. The Federal Center for Political Education emphasizes that memorial sites are essential to help themselves.

This memorial trip is organized for the seventh time, this time in close cooperation with the State Center for Political Education. Such initiatives are of great importance to highly reflect on the memory of the terrible events of the Nazi era and to critically reflect on the actions of the National Socialists who disregarded humanity and tolerance. The exchange with volunteers and discussions about the current political situation should illustrate social responsibility and stimulate to become active against right -wing extremists.
