Ludwigsburg under heat pressure: sixth highest stress in Germany!

Everyone is talking about the heat, especially in Ludwigsburg, where the temperatures could mostly reach the 35-degree mark. The “Hitze-Check 2025” of the German Environmental Aid (DUH) chose the city in sixth place of 190 German cities with extreme heat load. This is a wake -up call for everyone, because according to the DUH, many people live in Ludwigsburg in densely built -up and heavily sealed residential areas where shadows and green areas are in short supply. This heat load not only affects the environment, but also the health of citizens, especially older people as well as chronically ill and children who are particularly susceptible.

The DUH leaves no doubt that heat is a serious health risk. It therefore demands binding minimum green parts for land, roofs and public spaces in order to counter the oppressive gray of the sealed surfaces. Over 12 million people in Germany are exposed to extreme heat at their place of residence, and the cities are increasingly becoming a "concrete oven". As the current report of ludwigsburg24 , 31 cities receive a red card, while 131 received a yellow and only 28 a green card for their situation. Ludwigsburg is one of the cities with the highest heat load, together with Mannheim, Ludwigshafen and Frankfurt.

Current challenges

Why is that? A disturbing increase in sealed areas is responsible. In comparison, cities such as Detmold and Potsdam, which are less sealed and have more green areas, enjoy a green card in the heat check. This shows that the need for action in Ludwigsburg is great. The daily consumption of over 50 hectares of space for settlements and traffic in Germany represents a dramatic problem.

The city of Ludwigsburg has already taken the first steps to counteract this. The redesigned Arsenalplatz was opened as a climate -adapted open space with more trees and shadows. In addition, the city is planning further projects for greening and sealing in different parts of the city. The need for resorts in urban reversals is becoming increasingly pressing, as Frank Winkler from the GKV alliance for Health emphasizes Baden-Württemberg.

Together against the heat

But where is the implementation of a systematic heat action plan? The German Institute for Urban Studies (Difu) deals intensively on this topic and has published in a new report that was published given. These plans could help to better coordinate provision and acute aid and to promote cross -departmental cooperation.

More and more cities in Germany are now developing their own haps, but they are often still at the beginning. In Ludwigsburg, it must now be traded to reduce the loss of performance by excessive sealing as well as to offer appealing recreation rooms to all citizens. The exchange with other cities, such as recently with Düsseldorf and Karlsruhe, is of enormous importance to benefit from their experiences.

The challenge is there. A clear “now or never” for Ludwigsburg and many other cities in Germany that have to face the challenges of climate change in the heat. When the heat becomes a social question, it is important that everyone and everyone contributes to the solution. Because only together we can combat the heat of heat and ensure a livable climate.
