Gericke defends Stadtbahn Lucie: dealers protest loudly!

Especially in Ludwigsburg something is happening. The Green Member of the Landtag Silke Gericke recently expressed a clearly controversial light rail Lucie. Despite the growing criticism of dealers and restaurateurs, which particularly criticize the new route and the hold on the west side of the train station, she vehemently defends the project. The main criticisms revolve around the course of the route over the busy Friedrichstrasse and the associated impairment of the business processes in the city center. Gericke shows no understanding of the concerned voices and relies on the necessity of this train for climate -friendly mobility and regional networking, such as Stuttgart News.

During a recent visit to Ludwigsburg, in which Gericke discussed various topics such as mobility and health together with Andreas Schwarz, leader of the Greens faction, it became clear that the light rail is not only a traffic project, but part of a larger plan for transformation of the entire region. The exchange with mayors and heads of administration from surrounding cities shows the ambitious approach that aims at a well -connected, climate -friendly and lively community. According to [Ludwigsburg24] (https://www.ludwigsburg24.com/wir-standen-uns-t-selbst-im-weg-gruenen- Group boss-schwarz-in-ludwigsburg/), the relief alliance was also presented. Excessive bureaucracy should be dismantled with infrastructure projects and investments in bus and train are to be funded.

Mobility transition in focus

In order to increase the quality of life of the citizens, people behind the numbers are also asked. The citizens' dialogue, which dealt with general interest and public transport, has shown that citizens would like more reliability and punctuality on bus and train. Many demanded a denser timing and cheaper tickets, but that is easier said than done. The initiatives such as the cheap youth ticket BW and the State Mobility Act are in the right direction, but the challenges remain great, as Fraunhofer Iese shows.

A study carried out by DB Regio AG for the mobility transition illuminates the enormous potential of public transport, in particular the bus, as a sustainable mobility solution. The bus can promote many people with low energy consumption, but also needs a well thought -out concept to be attractive to citizens. In order to achieve the climate goals, it is crucial to put users more in the center of all considerations. If we want to create a real change of mobility, two cornerstones have to be implemented: the bus has to find its place in the mobility landscape, and it requires a realignment of the infrastructure projects that take the needs of the citizens into account.

With these approaches it can be seen that the challenges in mobility planning are by no means easy to master. However, the Green Group has a good knack for the big steps into the future, because the vision of a modern and sustainable region is concerned that goes far beyond the light rail. To achieve this, all actors must pull together and actively involve the citizens in the process.
