New managing director for Pforzheim: Marquard brings energy into play!

A fresh wind blows through the Pforzheim municipal utility: Herbert Marquard will hold the reins in his hand as the new managing director. He has over 50 years of experience in municipal energy supply, as well as an impressive professional career, which, among other things, shaped him as a commercial managing director of "One Energy" in Chemnitz and the Pirna municipal utility. Marquard, born in Mülheim on the Ruhr in 1954, has already made a name for himself, especially through his work as a board member of the EnSO (today Saxony Energy). The special thing about his new role? It occurs in retirement age and will lead the fortunes of the municipal utilities by early summer 2025, such as the Komwid describes.

face of the municipal utility in upheaval

dr. Wirsbinna, who was born in Schwerin in 1973 and now lives in Pforzheim and Dormagen, also has big goals in mind. Equipped with a five -year contract, he plans to strengthen the municipal utilities and to establish new business areas such as fiber optic expansion and water supply in other municipalities. In his current position, he has already contributed significantly to improve the services of the municipal utilities.

The challenges for the municipal energy suppliers, on the other hand, are clearly on the agenda. The study of the Competence Center Public Economy is open that only about 18.8 % of the energy requirement in the area of heat and cold are covered by renewable energies. Eatz gas and coal in particular are currently still very popular, while regenerative energies are still very expandable. The financial planning for heat supply will be estimated at around 520 million euros by 2028, which presents the cities with great tasks. In particular, there are smaller municipalities that struggle with personnel bottlenecks. Suggestions for cooperation in the "convoy procedure" could offer a solution here.

In order to achieve the climate goals and restructuring the heat supply, municipal utilities are essential. Above all, the transformation of gas to hydrogen is considered an important step. These developments must now be consistently tackled, because our future is not waiting.
