Göppingen train station shines after 400,000 euros of modernization!
Something is happening in Göppingen! Deutsche Bahn has launched an extensive modernization project for the local train station, which will help improve travel comfort and cleanliness. This emerges from a current communication from Deutsche Bahn, which also keeps the city administration up to date. The DB is investing 400,000 euros in these improvement measures. This upcoming rejuvenation treatment is not only intended to attract travelers, but also to significantly beautify the cityscape. The plans call for a thorough renovation, which also includes the station hall. The hall will be redesigned and equipped with new benches, a modern wayfinding system and additional waste containers. Leaning options and renewed roller doors are also on the list of improvements to increase traveler comfort.
But that's not all. The stairs will be renovated and provided with concrete renovation and visible step markings to ensure the safety of passers-by. A new, intensive cleaning concept with annual costs of 125,000 euros ensures that cleanliness is maintained even after the renovation. Comprehensive cleaning measures are carried out every day, while lower areas such as the underpass, stairs and the covered platforms are allowed to be cleaned six times a week, including high-pressure cleaning, to get rid of any dirt.
An investment that is worth seeing
Mayor Alex Maier is pleased about this measure and emphasizes the importance of the train station for visitors' first impression of Göppingen. “A clean and inviting ambience is the key to arousing sympathy for our city,” notes Maier. Timo Peters from DB InfraGO AG also emphasizes the importance of cleanliness and comfort in the station, which acts as a central hub for travelers.
In addition to the station hall, there are several other construction projects that catch the eye. The new construction of various platforms is also part of the planned measures. For example, the main platform on track 1 will be built with a length of 280 meters. Overall, the length of the platforms will be adjusted to meet the needs of travelers as much as possible. Accessibility is also being worked on: a new entrance on the Breech 2/3 central platform, including an elevator system, ensures barrier-free transfer of people.
Modernization for everyone
In addition, maintenance work on the existing platform roofing and the renewal of the platforms in terms of weather protection, furniture, signage and lighting are planned. The aim of this modernization initiative, which according to... Train stations initiative includes a total of 51 stations, the aim is to create extensive accessibility and optimize the visual design of the stations.
With these measures, Deutsche Bahn shows that it has a good handle on the needs of travelers and values the city of Göppingen as an important hub in the mobility landscape. It remains exciting to see how the modernizations will take shape and what positive effects they will have for the city and its citizens.
