Bundeswehr orders hundreds of Mercedes-Benz Arocs for military transport
The Bundeswehr has taken a significant step towards modernizing its transport capacities. According to current reports, Daimler Truck has received a significant major order from the Bundeswehr to deliver a mid-three-digit number of Mercedes-Benz Arocs by May 2026. This large order is awarded by Bw-Fuhrpark-Service, the Bundeswehr's mobility service provider. In this context, however, the exact value of the order remains unmentioned Stuttgart News reported.
The new Arocs models, all of which are equipped with all-wheel drive, are optimally designed for use off asphalt roads. This makes the vehicles particularly valuable for logistics operations in the military sector. A key feature of these models is that they can cross rivers with a water depth of up to 90 centimeters, which makes them extremely flexible for a variety of operating conditions. This underlines the Bundeswehr's emphasis on mobility and adaptability, as well as the Manager Magazine highlights.
Details about production and equipment
A large part of the production of these vehicles will take place in Germany and France. In particular, components such as axles, transmissions and engines are manufactured in German Mercedes factories before assembly takes place in Wörth am Rhein (Rhineland-Palatinate). The final painting and assembly of a container swap frame take place at Sonntag Fahrzeugbau in Sauerland. To reduce visibility through night vision devices, a chemical-resistant base coat is applied in Molsheim, France.
For the Bundeswehr, the Arocs are not just trucks, but they come with a limited range of special military equipment, which includes, among other things, a tailor-made camouflage paint job. These measures increase the effectiveness of transport in military operations. The T Online underlines that the order aims to significantly improve military transport capacities for national and alliance defense.
This order not only meets the Bundeswehr's requirements for modern means of transport. Daimler Truck also shows that they have a good knack for lucrative orders, which further consolidates the company's position in the industry. The Arocs delivered will undoubtedly be an important component in the future logistics of the armed forces.
