Experience the splendor of the Lantern Festival – tradition in Kirchheim 2025!

November is just around the corner and Kirchheim unter Teck has a lot to offer! For anyone who would like to learn more about the history of their homeland or simply want to celebrate in a friendly atmosphere, there will be a wide range of city tours and festivities next month.

Especially those historical city tour on November 1st at 2:00 p.m. stands out. Lasting 90 minutes, participants will immerse themselves in Kirchheim's past. The tour costs 7 euros per person and covers exciting topics such as the different half-timbered styles, the remarkable St. Martin's Church, the hustle and bustle of the market and the city's impressive Renaissance castle.

Lantern Festival – A highlight for young and old

On November 6th from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. it will be particularly festive: the traditional one Lantern Festival takes place, which has been inspiring citizens since 1958. The parade, one of the largest and most beautiful in the area, promises a great experience for the entire city community, not just for the little ones. The route leads from the old guard house via the market square and the granary to the roller skating area. The procession is accompanied by the city band while the participants sing songs. The night watchman has the honorable task of leading the procession and thus ensures an atmospheric start to the dark season. It's a bit of a shame: some parents don't sing along, which the children find sad.

It is important to know that the festival can only take place in dry weather - so the weather gods should be on our side!

More city tours

But that's not all. On November 8th there will be a city tour on the history of the Jews in Kirchheim, which lasts two hours and also has a moderate price of 7 euros per person. The meeting point is also at the Kirchheim-Info, and participants can look forward to exciting stories about the origins of the Jewish community as well as some individual fates, which are brought to life through stumbling blocks.

On November 14th, St. Martin's Church invites you to a guided tour that deals with the interior renovation and late Gothic architecture. For just 6 euros per person, visitors can learn more about the impressive Renschorgel. And as the icing on the cake, there will be a night watchman tour on November 28th, which is both spooky and exciting with stories from the past and the exploration of dark half-timbered alleys. Here too the cost is 7 euros per person.
