Esslingen cycles record -breaking: 1,652 participants and over 330,000 km!

The city of Esslingen has achieved impressive results as part of this year's city bike. A total of 1,652 cyclists took part in the competition, which took place from mid -May to the beginning of June, and together covered an impressive 329,958 kilometers. Esslingen thus exceeded the record of around 200 participants in the previous year. According to the city administration, the participants would have driven around 54 tons of CO2 by car - a strong argument for using the bike!

In the nationwide ranking,

Esslingen provides a respectable 18th place of a total of 832 participating municipalities in Baden-Württemberg. Nationwide, the city landed in the 137th place of almost 3,000 municipalities. Compared to the district of Esslingen, the city is in second place, only behind Nürtingen. This shows that cycling is not only a trend, but can also make an important contribution to sustainable mobility.

The city rewardes the best teams, schools and companies as part of a award ceremony, which will take place on June 5, 2025 at the Schwörfest from 11:30 a.m. on the market square. It is particularly gratifying that school classes are also awarded for the first time. The bike check on the festival day in Ritterstrasse, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., offers a great way to make bicycles fit for the next tour.

The winning teams impressively show how much fun cycling in Esslingen is: The team "Nonplusultra feat. Rennradines" took the highest kilometer number with 13,757.4 km, followed by "Campusbiker University of Esslingen" with 10,993.6 km. At the companies, the "Festo Rad Team" cycled with impressive 34,247.9 km. The Mörike-Gymnasium Esslingen am Neckar with phenomenal 42,439.4 km.
