CSD Esslingen: Colorful, loud and solidarity – be there on June 21st!

On June 21, 2025, Esslingen will become the colorful center of the queer community when the second Christopher Street Day (CSD) is celebrated in the city. Under the motto "Never be quiet again! IT stays colorful!" The day promises a lively demonstration for diversity and equality, organized by the QueerES association. The organizers are expecting around 2,000 participants to gather at Bahnhofsplatz from 2 p.m. and prepare for the big parade, which starts at 3 p.m. Esslinger Zeitung reports.

The parade runs along a barrier-free route that runs from Bahnhofsplatz via Neckarstrasse, Maille, Kiesstrasse, Küferstrasse, Wehrneckarstrasse and the Innere Brücke to the market square. All participants are asked to show solidarity, for example by waving rainbow flags. It is also particularly important that right-wing, racist or homophobic groups are excluded from participation. If necessary, an awareness team in pink vests provides security and support.

Hockey and supporting program

After the parade, a hocketse on the market square awaits visitors from 5 p.m. with a colorful program of drag shows, live music, speeches and information stands. The highlight is the after-show party with an exciting drag show, which takes place at 9 p.m. If you don't just want to watch, but also actively participate, you have the opportunity to take part in various workshops, such as a drag workshop on June 20th in the former Kögel fashion house.

An extensive supporting program took place several days before the demo. Queer identity is celebrated with creative workshops, such as jewelry making and an event on clothing. The poster painting on June 19th also invites you to formulate your own messages on the LGBTQIA+ topic. Add Stuttgarter Nachrichten these notes with a reminder of the importance of the CSD as a safe space for the queer community.

The history of Christopher Street Day dates back to the 1970s and has since expanded worldwide. It combines political rallies with festive parades to celebrate pride, diversity and equality. This is not just about celebration, but also about highlighting the challenges that the LGBTQIA+ community continues to face, such as Pride Planet emphasized.

For everyone who wants to take part in the CSD: Bring sunscreen and something to drink, as alcohol is not allowed during the demonstration. In addition, it is better for dogs to stay at home in order to ensure a relaxed process, especially for all participants. Glitter and personal comfort clothing are a must; Uniforms, on the other hand, are taboo.
