Future for Daxlanden: urban development concept with citizen participation!

Around 70 interested citizens recently gathered at the deaf center to find out more about the new urban development concept for Daxlanden. At this event, which was part of the ongoing dialogue between the city administration and residents, the progress and prospects for the district were comprehensively presented. Over the past two years, numerous future forums have taken place where ideas were collected and concepts developed. Mayor Dr. In his speech, Albert Käuflein emphasized the central role of citizen participation in this process, but also emphasized that the city's current budget situation represents a challenge for implementation. So reported karlsruhe.de.

In order to create the urban development concept (STEK), the Karlsruhe municipal council decided in advance to carry out a detailed analysis of Daxlanden's strengths and weaknesses. The aim of this measure is to sustainably improve the quality of life in the district and create more transparency for citizens. But what is the future roadmap? In the first phase, surveys and analyzes were carried out, which were summarized in a report and presented to the local council. The second phase is now underway, in which proposed solutions will be developed in which residents will be actively involved.

Another interesting aspect of the concept is a disposal fund of 10,000 euros, which enables residents and local actors to propose their own projects and support them financially. In this way, these suggestions can be incorporated directly into urban development. Information about upcoming participation events and workshops is available on the city's participation portal, where all citizens are invited to contribute their ideas. Further details about the development process were provided by participation.karlsruhe.de provided.

The metris working group from Heidelberg played an important role in this process. This moderated the meetings and helped to summarize the results, as architect Charis Nichtern explained. She pointed out that many of the planned measures can be useful even without immediate financial resources, as they can be implemented quickly as soon as money flows.

With over 40 desirable goals and numerous measures, the recently published, around 150-page urban development concept has the potential to sustainably transform Daxlanden. Even if the “guard rails” for these measures have been established, adjustments are still possible. The path to an improved quality of life has been paved, even if implementation depends on finances. The city administration remains optimistic that with the active support of citizens and the right planning, successes can soon be seen.
