Konstanz Art Foundation: Studio visits reveal regional treasures!
In the picturesque region around Lake Constance there is a lively art scene that continually provides new impulses. The Konstanz District Art Foundation, which has been supporting contemporary art for over 20 years, regularly visits the studios of regional artists. Just recently, on July 3, 2025, the board of trustees, led by District Administrator Zeno Danner, explored the creative spaces of three remarkable artists: Bernd Kirschner, Heidi Reubelt and Bettina Rave, whose works impressively reflect the diversity and depth of the art scene. The art foundation reports that ....
Bernd Kirschner, who has lived in Konstanz for several years, has set up shop in a spartan studio in the former Rieter factory. His large-format images, which are representational in an attentive way, open a dialogue between the visual and the metaphysical - an invitation to engage emotionally and visually with what is happening. His works are not only in demand in Germany, but are also represented by international galleries.
The creative work of the artists
Heidi Reubelt, another artist who was the focus of the studio visits, presents her work in a lovingly renovated former farmhouse in Horn auf der Höri. Originally from Lake Constance, she returned to Munich in 1990. Her images convey social and political messages that plead for peace and are directed against exclusion. She also runs a painting school that offers courses for individuals and groups. Reubelt has also received numerous scholarships, including awards from the Thurgauer Kunststiftung.
The third member of the artists visited is Bettina Rave. Growing up on the Höri, she owes important impulses to her teacher Rosemarie Schnorrenberg. Rave studied painting and visual communication in Berlin and the USA and works in both Berlin and Radolfzell. Her works often deal with perception and take up topics such as translating a love letter into Morse code. Such processes require in-depth discussion, which is why she often works on her pictures for several months.
A look into the art scene
The studio visits are an opportunity for the art foundation to gain an insight into the regional art landscape. Susanne Kiebler, an artist and lecturer at the Kreuzlingen University of Education, and her works were also part of this journey of discovery. Kiebler combines painting with drawing and collage and is currently dedicated to depicting mountain worlds. She opened the doors to her studio in Konstanz's Neuwerk and thrilled visitors with her creativity.
Particular attention was also paid to the studios of Silvia Siemes and Thomas Rissler in Tengen. Siemes' lifelike but otherworldly ceramic figures stand in exciting contrast to Rissler's abstract paintings. These contrasts captivated the members of the panel and allowed visitors to experience the artists' different approaches up close. The studio trip concluded with the gallery Les Auréades in Gailingen, where Monique Chevremont shows her fresco-like pictures, which are inspired by Greco-Roman antiquity. Her painting technique clearly impressed the visitors.
It shows that the Konstanz District Art Foundation not only promotes the diversity and innovative strength of regional artists through its studio visits, but also sustainably enriches cultural life in the district. The Wochenblatt knows that....
