Mediathek Müllheim celebrates 25 years with puppet theater and poetry slam!

A very special anniversary is celebrated in Müllheim: On July 13, 2025, the media library will be 25 years old! At the opening in 2000, nobody has had any idea how alive and diverse this place would develop. The event for the anniversary promises a colorful program for young and old. An open day from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. invites everyone interested to take a look at the offers of the media library.

Special highlight for the little guests is the puppet theater, which starts at 11:00 a.m. with the performance "A festival for Kater Findus" from the famous Magic Bühne Rottweil. This piece is particularly suitable for children from the age of four and promises to conquer the hearts of all spectators. At 1:30 p.m. it will be really festive when Mayor Martin Löffler and the media library leader Petra Liebrecht and Simone Kerner from the Freiburg public library system opened the official ceremony.

creativity and word acrobatics

But that's not all! From 2:30 p.m., the media library will become a stage for an exciting poetry slam. Here five talented slam poets show their skills: Cäcilia Hufnagel, Dominik Heißler, the last Gerhard, Nathalie Friedrich and Harald Gritzner compete against each other. The whole thing is moderated by Ansgar Hufnagel from Freiburg. The rules are simple but challenging: Each slammer has seven minutes to present its self -made work to the audience - technical aids are not allowed. An exciting challenge for all word acrobats!

In addition, the Fool's guild Müllheimer Hudeli takes care of the physical well -being with soft drinks, coffee and cake from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. And between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. there is also the possibility for the little artists to live out creatively during face painting.

cultural life in the media library

The media library in Müllheim has developed into a cultural center over the years that goes far beyond the mere loan of media. The Reading Society of 1789 e.V., which is located here, is one of the oldest clubs in the city. It has developed into a literary community since the 1960s that organizes events on literary topics several times a year. This includes lectures, readings and socialities that all take place in the media library. The members are passionate lectures and the reading group under the direction of Dr. Heidemarie Weber meets regularly to discuss literary works.

The anniversary festival on July 13 will not only celebrate the history of the media library, but also underline its commitment to promote literature, culture and community in Müllheim. An occasion that you shouldn't miss!
