Ulm in the innovation nation: Students present shiny ideas!

Ulm, Deutschland - on June 13, 2025, on a radiant day, the third edition of the "Technikon" in Ulm, the innovative event of the Startupsüd association, took place. Under the motto "Develop ideas. Solve problems. Design the future." Students came together from various universities to develop creative solutions for numerous challenges. The Technical University of Ulm, the University of Ulm, the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Design, the Aalen University of Applied Sciences and the Biberach University of Applied Sciences were represented and showed their commitment to the region.

The event offered the participants the opportunity to tinker with a total of six challenges. Particularly noteworthy are the topics of the revitalization of the Ulm Lederhof and innovative concepts for greening interior. The organization team of the Ulm Technical University was enthusiastic about the potential of the region and the promising ideas of the participants.

A large part of the event was dedicated to the pitching. The best projects were awarded here. The “Clean & Eat” team won the title for the best pitch with a concept for the Ulm Lederhof. For the best technical idea, a solution for attaching special tags on fishing nets was awarded with the aim of avoiding ghost networks. In addition, the concept for reforestation of forests, which combines planting and protecting tree seedlings, was recognized as the best green/sustainable idea. The audience award went to the bracelet and security concept "Luisa", which wants to offer more security in nightlife.

The success of the technologyon can be clearly seen from the numerous creative ideas - a total of 14 final projects were presented. The challenges were created in many ways: they ranged from hydrogen production and storage for sustainable building energy supply to intelligent solutions to support people with disabilities through technologies such as AR glasses.

After a hard day, the "Get Together" gave the opportunity for the students to network with a relaxed burger meal and to discuss the practical implementation of their ideas. The upcoming events are also already being planned: On June 17, 2024, there will be another round of the Technikon, in which 60 students will have the chance to work on seven new challenges. This shows once again that the innovative strength in the region is very popular.
