insights into family history

The visit to the Nördlingen city museum was particularly important for the Pappenheimers. Moritz Pappenheimer, the great -grandfather of Roni, founded a cut in Nördlingen in 1892 after moving from Oberdorf. His son Heinrich, later also known as Heinz, led a branch in Aalen before he had to flee to Palestine with his family in 1938. This happened after his detention in the Dachau concentration camp, which strongly shaped the history of the family.

The city museum, under the direction of Andrea Kugler, currently offers the special exhibition "Matzen Frisch ...-Jewish life in Nördlingen 1860-1942", which can still be seen until November 3.. This exhibition illuminates the development of the Jewish community in Nördlingen, starting with the establishment of a synagogue in 1886. Kugler was enthusiastic about visiting the Pappenheimer and the opportunity to exhibit their family history.

The emotional journey to its roots shows how the story of families with the history of their homeland is closely interwoven. The efforts of Roni Pappenheimer and Yoram Mire are now paying off by not only honoring the memories of their ancestors, but also gaining a better understanding of their own identity.
