New Aalen-West railway: Completion secured by the end of 2026!

In the heart of Aalen it will soon be all about: The new Aalen-West railway position is scheduled to open its doors in December 2026. On July 2, 2025, the local council of Unterrombach-Hofherrnweiler advised the development of the necessary area and presented a revised draft for the infrastructure, which includes not only footpaths and parking spaces, but also bicycle parking areas, bus stops and an appealing greening. As Schwäbische Post , the plan was accepted by the local council. However, the final decision of the Aalen municipal council is still imminent, it will be made on July 24, 2025.

A public interest is huge: at an information evening in October 2024, 180 citizens: inside their opinions and ideas brought in. However, the planned space and parking areas were shorter than originally thought. A planned building must be eliminated due to the tense budget, and the parka and bicycle boxes are implemented with asphalt instead of paving in a stripped -down variant. The residents in particular have concerns: they fear parkchaos and noise pollution. Fortunately, there are considerations to expand the parking space.

Sustainable traffic policy in focus

The Aalen-West railway is not only a new hub in traffic, but is also part of a sustainable, climate-friendly transport policy that has been sought by town and country together with Deutsche Bahn since 2016. As can be read on aalen.de , the new stop of the region should bring a significant development. As a "multimodal knot", it is designed to link train connections to other means of transport.

The city administration received funding in April 2025, whereby the country will cover up to 75 percent of the eligible construction costs and 20 percent of the planning costs. The total costs for the project amount to 4.22 million euros, of which the city should only bear only 3.5 million euros itself.

accessibility and infrastructure

Wherever the way leads is clear: great importance was placed on accessibility when planning. With a width of 2.50 meters and a length of 280 meters, the planned platform will not only offer enough space, but will also be equipped with ramps and help for visually impaired passengers. This was also determined together with DB Station & Service AG, with the declared goal of bringing the platform height to 76 cm nationwide, so vm.baden-wuerttemberg.de .

In addition, a mobility concept is in progress, which includes parking space with e-charging stations, bus stops with turning options as well as bicycle parking spaces and even rental stations. This should all help to ensure that users can enjoy consistent mobility and further promote the region.

The planning is quickly pushed forward and are now under pressure to comply with the deadlines for the construction work. It becomes clear that with the Aalen-West railway, not only another station is created on the map, but also part of the future vision for a better, sustainable traffic connection in the region. And not only the future commuters can look forward to it: inside and travelers!
