With siblings to success: Miowitz-Family shines when fencing!
Biberach, Deutschland - On June 16, 2025, a spectacular event took place in Biberach, Baden-Württemberg: the German championships in foil fencing. The event attracted fencers between the ages of 11 and 13 from all corners of Germany, and the tournament was able to count on an enthusiastic number of spectators and a lively atmosphere. The focus was particularly on the siblings Mateja and Milan Miowitz, who competed for the Lower Saxony team. Klages emphasized the fabulous atmosphere in the hall, which led to an exciting weekend full of new experiences and impressions. The fencing department of the TV Cannstatt was entrusted with the organization of the German championships for the first time. The two competitions each included 180 fencers on 18 perfectly prepared fencing tracks that were always ready for use. The challenges were complex: from registration, through a medical on -call service to the provision of a cafeteria, many details had to be taken into account and organized. Iris Drobny, a professional sports photographer, documented the event and already used her skills in other big tournaments.Thanks to the provision of the badminton and tennis hall through the TV Cannstatt, the event could be carried out inexpensively, which brought a big logistical advantage. Over 70 committed people were deployed on both days to ensure the smooth process. The German Fencing Association took over the official implementation of the tournament and praised the work of the fencing department and the main association.
A look at the future of fencing
fencing has a long tradition in Germany, which goes back to the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. The German fencing association, the spearhead of this sport, has around 22,500 members and around 500 clubs, which underlines the nationwide interest in fencing. With this championship, the TV Cannstatt has earned an excellent reputation in child and youth work.
In view of the sporting challenges and objectives, the German fencing association reports on steady efforts to promote the offspring and to keep the number of members actively.
