SG Ummendorf/Fischbach: Emotional farewell to club legends!

On June 12, 2025, SG Ummendorf/Fischbach said goodbye as part of the last game of the season. Instead of in a funeral, the farewell took place directly against master FV Bad Schussenried, which gave the players a successful farewell. In this home game, the club was happy about a 4-2 victory and ended its first season in the district league Oberschaben as fourth in the promotion round with a total of 21 points.

The players who leave the club have very different backgrounds and careers. Josip Roncevic, who played 71 competitive games for the SGM in four years, celebrated two championships and a cup win during his time. Stefan "Hector" Hess, who is now saying goodbye after two years as a player coach, ran in 41 competitive games and always showed his leadership qualities. Marius Wolf, formerly known as an Ochsenwadel, has played over 100 games and was and remains an important figure in the history of the club, especially because of his contribution to the 2018 championship.

A look at the season

The SGM Ummendorf/Fischbach has shown itself as an ambitious promoted climber in the current season. Under the direction of coach Stefan Wiest, who leads the team together with Stefan Hess, the team had remained undefeated in 35 league and cup games for over a year and has been at the top of the table for two match days. "We are relying on pressing, counterpressing and brave football," said WIEST recently proudly and emphasized that the injuries to Stefan Grell and the departure of Lennard von males could be compensated for excellently.

With a view to the coming season, the manual endeavors to continue its success. A fourth win in the upcoming home game against TSV Kirchberg would be another step in this direction. The opponents have already conceded 18 goals in the defense, which could favor the SGM striving for.

but also other teams in the league show their strengths: SV Baustetten, who can come up with an upward trend, remains twice without a goal in the last three games. In contrast, SV Burgrieden still has a lot after two defeats in a row.

from the district league to the championship

The district league, in which the SGM plays for the championship, is an important category in the German league system. After the Second World War, the district league was usually the fifth highest class until 1978, but today it is classified as seventh or eighth division depending on the national association. Such statistics show how important every single season is for the clubs who play in this league and struggle with passion for climbing.

The association has developed a lot through constant training and commitment and is optimistic about the future. The adoption of the players not only shows gratitude, but also a fresh start that will bring new opportunities in the next season. The SG Ummendorf/Fischbach thanks for the use of all adopted players and will always remember their performance.
