Laupheim celebrates with students: A celebration of diversity and community!
A colorful celebration of diversity and cohesion attracted many visitors to the Laupheim children's and local festival on Monday, even in the oppressive heat. This year's motto “A trip around the world in the heart” reflects the cultural diversity of the city and runs like a common thread through the various program items of the event. Ralf Aubele, the chairman of the local festival association, shared his impressions of the VIP stand and emphasized the importance of the festival for the community.
A highlight was the impressive Monday parade, which was attended by thousands of spectators. The focus was on the creative contribution of the schools. The Friedrich-Adler-Realschule, for example, inspired people with the theme “Flying High” and other schools presented their own interpretations of the motto. The Untersulmetingen primary school in particular celebrated its 155th anniversary with a journey through time, while the Wielandschule packed its suitcases for a trip around the world.
Creative contributions from schools
Several programs stood out among the participating schools:
- Bischof-Ulrich-Schule Obersulmetingen: Motto „Alles im Lot auf’m Boot“
- Ivo-Schaible-Schule Baustetten: Thematisierung des Fliegens mit Flugzeugmodellen
- Kilian-von-Steiner-Schule: Europäische Werte im Fokus
- Weitere Schulen: Grundschule Bronner Berg, Anna-von-Freyberg-Grundschule, Friedrich-Uhlman-Schule, Carl-Laemmle-Gymnasium
The parade was accompanied by historical groups, musical ensembles and colorfully decorated theme floats, which created an additional festive atmosphere. Moderator Hubert Schick caused amusement in the crowd with his humorous comment about possible rides for the mayor.
The children's festival treasures Romy Knoll and Annika Baur set a special example for the community, who not only put up posters for togetherness, but also recited a poem. After all, around 16% of Laupheim's population is not a German citizen, from over 90 countries worldwide. This diversity reflects the liveliness of the city and confirms the importance of cultural events such as the local festival.
Cultural diversity in Germany
These celebrations fit perfectly with current efforts to promote cultural diversity in Germany. While the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the cultural and creative sectors, initiatives and programs at federal and state levels demonstrate the importance of resilience and sustainable development. The commitment to fair and sustainable cooperation with countries in the Global South is becoming increasingly important. Social moral courage in culture remains a central theme, and events such as the Laupheim Festival offer a platform to celebrate and strengthen these values.
