Great joy in Laupheim: 3,000 euros for the dementia group Lichtblick!

Laupheim, Deutschland - In Laupheim, special commitment is made for people with dementia! The dementia group "Lichtblick" was able to look forward to a generous donation of 1,000 euros. This was handed over by Marielle and Markus Dodel from Dodel Floristik and Michael Straub. The idea for this support came about in November 2024 during the Advent exhibition of Dodel Floristik, where delicious apple cakes were sold under the motto "Frozen Christmas". The proceeds from this sale were rounded up and is now benefiting from the dementia group, which is known for their valuable work. The donation was handed over as part of the "Lichtblick to Heimatfest 2025", and the joy of the support was great for those involved when Irene Lazaridou, specialist of the dementia group, received the donation.

In addition, the work of the "Lichtblick" group was rewarded by a further donation of 2,000 euros from the Laupheim community foundation. This support not only serves to secure the care offer, but also recognizes the volunteers who invest around 2,600 hours a year in the care of up to 12 people with dementia. Dr. Armin Krieglsteiner from the community foundation made it clear how important this voluntary work is for the community. The support ranges from creative activities such as singing, playing and gymnastics to baking, with the participants participating in these offers every day from Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Association commitment and volunteering

The team of the social center is supported by 12 committed volunteers who make a significant contribution to the quality of life of the participants with a lot of care and creativity. Monika Adolph, the head of the social center, emphasizes that the volunteers play a major role in the company of the "Lichtblick" offer. If you also want to become part of this social initiative, you can contact Monika Adolph and learn more about the voluntary opportunities.

With these measures it becomes clear how important volunteering in the region is, especially when working with people who are ill. This is also underlined by the publication of a new brochure of the Federal Working Group on Senioren Office (BAS), which deals with the role of volunteering in working with older people, especially people with dementia. The brochure contains practical suggestions and strategies for gaining volunteering and is available free of charge. [2]

The goal of these initiatives is clear: to enable the social participation of those affected and to improve their quality of life. In view of the demographic challenges, this development gains in importance and shows that volunteering is not only used, but also valued.
