Reopening of the Miramar: New and modern after the fire!

A new beginning for the Miramar leisure pool in Weinheim is imminent! On Monday, June 16, 2025, the popular bathroom will open its doors again after a pressing renovation phase. This comeback after a devastating fire in the thermal area, which broke out in December 2023 and paralyzed the facility for over six months, is not only a ray of hope for the community, but also a sign of the tireless work of the management and the entire team.

Managing Director Lara Steinhart admits: "The damage was greater than initially assumed." The renovation costs rose from an estimated 10 million to over 20 million euros. In addition, 2 million euros were invested in extensive modernizations that were carried out during the closing time. The central changing room and sanitary area are now presenting themselves new and barrier-free, while the entrance area comes up with modern acoustic silencers. Despite its renovation, the bathroom and sauna area also remains undamaged and now shines in new splendor.

new attractions and security measures

The Miramar will not only impress with fresh design, but also with a new social area that includes a family circuit and a changing room. The extensive modernization not only attaches importance to the well -being of the guests, but also on their safety. Complex damage regulation with insurance was necessary, and the extensive renovation work included the disposal of around 1,600 tons of rubble, the laying of 40 tons and the installation of impressive 26 kilometers of cable.

The cause of the fire was attributed to a technical defect, according to the public prosecutor. Fortunately, around 200 employees of the Miramar remained spared from operational dismissals during the closing time. The managing directors, Lara and Nicolas Steinhart, praise the excellent performance of all trades during the turbulent renovation phase.

Details on the admission prices and future plans

Another reason to be happy: the thermal impact of 5 euros, which is raised on the ticket prices, is no longer necessary until the crystal thermal bath is finally completed, the reopening of which is planned for the end of 2025. Tickets that have already been sold retain their validity, so that loyal fans can continue to enjoy the attractive offers even after the closure. The Miramar attracts around 700,000 visitors every year - a real crowd puller in the region!

The building fabric of the bath is retained and the pollutants have been successfully removed. These measures were necessary to meet future security requirements. According to the requirement for fire protection concepts of swimming pools, individual solutions must be developed in order to create a safe and pleasant ambience for all visitors. All of this is done against the background that swimming pools are subject to high safety requirements, in particular with regard to the fire alarm systems and the emergency routes.

It seems that the Miramar has a lot in store for his guests, and we are looking forward to the big reopening! The expectations are high because it is a place of fun and relaxation that can finally bloom again after the long break. Many citizens only expect to experience the new Miramar and the water rats in the region will be happy to finally be able to splash around in the water.
