First success of the wine tasting in the Ritschweir vineyard enthusiastic!

in the small community of Ritschweier, which belongs to the city of Weinheim, is the easternmost and presumably highest vineyard of Badische Bergstrasse. Here the Kippenhan family has been running the winery for generations, which now drew attention to itself with a special event at the home days. The first vineyard sample took place last weekend and was a complete success. Over 40 wine lovers had registered, which even the owners, Karl-Friedrich Kippenhan and his grandson Georg, who is the first full-time winemaker of the family. Georg is supported by his wife Stefanie, an ÖNologist and former Bergsträßer wine queen.

The event was created as part of the home days, during which the Kippenhans presented a variety of their wines, including not only the popular Müller-Thurgau, but also Pinot Burgundy, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer and Cabernet Jura. As Mayor Manuel just found, the response was extremely positive, and the idea for the wine tasting was well received.

variety in glass

One of the highlights of the winery is the Müller-Thurgau, a quality wine that is particularly popular with the guests. This lovely developed white wine dates from the 2024 vintage and convinces with a price of only € 5.00 per bottle, which makes the wine an excellent companion for various dishes, such as fish or sushi. There are also a little more about the notes of the Müller-Thurgau from other sources: the wine impresses with a light yellow green with silver reflexes and an aroma of dried herbs, yellow apple and orange zest. On the palate it shows itself light-footed and fresh, with a subtle sweetness and a mineral-lemoned finish.

The tasting in the vineyard was not only a feast for the palate, but also a great community experience. The good mood and commitment of the Kippenhan family, who actively contributes to home care, contributed to the success of the event.

tradition meets modern

The Kippenhan family is already planning the continuation of such events and has set a traditional hope festival for June 28, 2025. This festival should not only be a cozy meeting point for wine lovers, but also a festival of the community in the smallest district of Weinheim. If you want to enjoy the variety of wines in a relaxed atmosphere, you should make a note of this appointment!

The Kippenhans show that they have a good hand for the connection between tradition and modernity and look forward to many visitors at their hope festival. In addition to the Müller-Thurgau, they have other interesting drops from their own cultivation that are worth discovering.
